The historic Newtown Theatre will present “Artistry of the Acoustic Guitar,” a summer solstice concert featuring internationally renowned guitarists Tim Farrell and Craig Thatcher on Wednesday, June 21 at 8 PM.
This one-night-only concert will feature Farrell and Thatcher playing acoustic versions of rock, pop, traditional, and original music on a variety of guitars. They will also share stories about the instruments, the music, and their experiences.
Farrell, a Council Rock graduate, is one of only four guitarists to be honored as one of the 100 Greatest Acoustic Guitarists who have also won Best Instrumental in the International Acoustic Music Awards.
He has entertained audiences internationally, appearing at venues such as the Kimmel Center, Montreal Jazz Festival, Carnegie Center, Hard Rock Live, Metropolitan Museum of Arts, Memphis Acoustic Guitar Festival, and Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase among others.
Thatcher began playing guitar in 1964 after seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Today, he is leader of The Craig Thatcher Band, an international clinician/ambassador for C.F. Martin & Co., and a talented solo acoustic guitarist who focuses primarily on fingerstyle country blues. He has performed in nearly every U.S. state and more than 35 countries.
