The historic Newtown Theatre will present its second annual Artistry of the Acoustic Guitar concert featuring internationally renowned guitarists Tim Farrell and Dirk Quinn on Thursday, May 9 at 8 PM.
This one-night-only concert will feature Farrell and Quinn playing acoustic versions of rock, pop, traditional, and original music on a variety of guitars. They will also share stories about the instruments, the music, and their experiences.
Online tickets are $32 per person or $27 for theatre members. Any remaining tickets will be sold for $42 at the door on the night of the show (if available).
All seating is general admission.
MEET THE ARTISTS
Farrell, a Council Rock graduate, is one of only four guitarists to be honored as one of the 100 Greatest Acoustic Guitarists who have also won Best Instrumental in the International Acoustic Music Awards. He has entertained audiences internationally, appearing at venues such as the Kimmel Center, Montreal Jazz Festival, Carnegie Center, Hard Rock Live, Metropolitan Museum of Arts, Memphis Acoustic Guitar Festival, and Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase among others.
Quinn is the guitarist for the Philadelphia-based jazz/funk band that bears his name. After more than a decade of performing throughout the U.S. and Canada, they have developed a unique and sincere style – one that appeals to a wide variety of music listeners ranging from beard-stroking jazz aficionados to jam-band hippies. With his great melodic sensibilities, rhythmic experimentation and infectious energy, Quinn makes new fans out of listeners who are admittedly more accustomed to lyric-based music.

HISTORIC RENOVATION FEE
In the summer of 2024, the historic Newtown Theatre will undertake Phase II of its master renovation plan, which includes renovating our balcony and expanding and improving our basement restrooms. To help pay for these exciting upgrades, we have implemented a $2 historic renovation fee on every ticket of $15 or more. This fee is just one part of an overall plan to raise the $600,000 required to make these upgrades. Thank you for supporting your historic hometown theatre!
