Mel Brooks Month: Young Frankenstein (3 PM)

January will be “Mel Brooks Month” at the historic Newtown Theatre. During the month, the theatre will screen four of Brooks’ classic films, including Young Frankenstein on Thursday, January 11 at 3 PM.

Frankenstein’s grandson Frederick inherits the family estate and discovers his grandfather’s private journal which contains the secret to reanimating life. Starring Gene Wilder, Peter Boyle, Teri Garr and Madeline Kahn.

Online tickets are $15 and $10 for theatre members. Doors open at 2:30 PM and seating is general admission.

Spaceballs (1987) on Thursday, January 4 at 3 and 7:30 PM. A star pilot for hire and his trusty sidekick must come to the rescue of a princess and save Planet Druidia from the clutches of the evil Spaceballs. Starring Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis, John Candy, Bill Pullman and Daphne Zuniga.

The Producers (2005 version) on Thursday, January 18 at 3 and 7:30 PM. A failing producer and his accountant scam a group of elderly women out of their nest eggs by convincing them to invest in a horrendously offensive Third Reich-themed musical secretly intended to bomb the moment it opens. Starring Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Mel Brooks, Will Ferrell and Uma Thurman

Blazing Saddles (1974) on Thursday, January 25 at 3 and 7:30 PM. In this satirical take on Westerns, crafty railroad worker Bart becomes the first black sheriff of Rock Ridge, a frontier town about to be destroyed in order to make way for a new railroad. Starring Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder.

  • Doors open at 2:30 PM and the film starts at 3 PM.
