The Newtown Theatre will hold its second annual storytelling workshop, Awakening the Hidden Storyteller, on Thursday, February 15 from 7 to 9 PM.
During the workshop, which is limited to 25 people, participants will enjoy a low-stress, fun-filled introduction to the essential elements of storytelling, story listening, and story creating. They will emerge with a new-found confidence in their ability to create compelling spoken stories from personal memories, traditional folklore, and pure imagination.
No experience is necessary — just bring a playful spirit and a desire to uncover your natural storytelling ability.
The workshop will be led by Robin Moore, who has made his living for 40 years as a professional storyteller. He is also author of the award-winning storytelling instructional book, “Awakening the Hidden Storyteller,” and has served on the faculty of the Master of Arts Degree in Storytelling Program at The Graduate Institute for 20 years.
Workshop participants are invited to audition to tell a story at the theatre’s public storytelling event on March 10. The amateur storytellers who are chosen will receive one-on-one coaching from Robin Moore to prepare for their appearance on stage.
