Movie Club: Harold and Maude (Free for Members!)

  • The Newtown Theatre 120 North State Street Newtown, PA 18940 (map)

The next film in the theatre’s monthly Movie Club series will be 1971’s Harold and Maude.

Harold and Maude follows the exploits of Harold Chasen, a young man who is intrigued with death and who rejects the life his detached mother prescribes for him. Harold develops a friendship, and eventual romantic relationship, with 79-year-old Maude, who teaches Harold about the importance of living life to the fullest. The movie incorporates elements of dark humor and existentialist drama.

Each Movie Club film will be introduced by Joe Amodei, President/CEO of Virgil Films & Entertainment. After the movie, Amodei and various special guests will discuss the film with participation from the audience.

The guest for “Harold and Maude” will be Joel Gibbs, host of “Moviemania!” “Everything Entertainment,” and “The Movie Show” – nationally syndicated radio talk shows where listeners across America gather to quench their thirst for everything they love about movies.

Cost is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and FREE for theatre members (members may simply walk in, no digital ticket needed).
