One of the area’s newest businesses and one of its oldest are teaming up to create “The Art of the Speakeasy,” a special event that combines art, cocktails, dessert and a speakeasy burlesque show at Newtown’s historic theatre.

This special event mashup begins between 7:00 and 8:00 PM at ArtWRKD art consortium, Newtown’s newest art space, located at 126 S. State Street in Newtown.

At ArtWRKD, guests will enjoy mingling, specialty cocktails, dessert, live artist demonstrations, and the opportunity to purchase gallery pieces.

Starting around 8:15 PM, guests can begin making their way down State Street to the historic Newtown Theatre. In true speakeasy spirit, guests will enter the theatre through the back door after giving a secret password. Once inside, enjoy a cash bar, live music by Drew Nugent & the Midnight Society, and several acts, including a roaring ‘20s burlesque show that begins at 9:00 PM.

Tickets for the evening are limited. Tickets are $50 to attend both the cocktail hour at ArtWRKD and the show at the Newtown Theatre, and $30 to attend the theatre show only.
