Co-hosted with Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve
The historic Newtown Theatre will screen “Botany of Desire” on Tuesday, May 9 at 7:30 PM. Following the documentary, Kathy Salisbury, Director of the Ambler Arboretum of Temple University, will be available to discuss the film and answer questions.
Based on Michael Pollan’s best-selling book of the same name, this documentary takes viewers on an exploration of the human relationship with the plant world – seen from the plants’ point of view. Narrated by Frances McDormand, the movie shows how four familiar species – the apple, the tulip, marijuana and the potato – evolved to satisfy our yearnings for sweetness, beauty and intoxication.
Online tickets for this special one-night-only screening are $15 per person or $10 for members of the theatre and Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve.
Any remaining tickets will be sold for $20 at the door for everyone on the night of the movie (if available).
